Articles Of Faith

The Scriptures - We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testament are the inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, complete as the revelation of God's will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct (II Tim. 3:16; II Pet. 1:19-21).

The Godhead (Trinity) - We believe in one true God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in essence, while distinct in personality and function (Gen. 1:26; Mat. 3:16-17, 28:19; Eph. 4:4-6).

God the Father - We believe in God the Father: an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humanity, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ (Isa. 40; John 4:24; Rom. 11:33-36; Eph. 2:4-7; Rev. 4:8; John 3:16).

Jesus Christ - We believe that Jesus Christ is God's eternal Son, who has precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. We further believe that He is not only true God, but true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. We also believe in His sinless life, His substitutionary atonement, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, His priestly intercession on behalf of His people, and His personal, visible, pre-millennial return from heaven (Pro. 30:4; John 1:1-3, 20:28; Mat. 1:20; Luke 1:30-32; Heb. 7:26; Col. 1:14; Heb. 10:14; Luke 24:39; Acts 1:9-10; Rom. 8:34; Rev. 19:11-14).

Holy Spirit - We believe in the Holy Spirit, His personality, His work in drawing sinners to Christ, and His ministry in glorifying the Lord Jesus. We also believe that He is the primary agent for the conviction of sin and the regeneration of unbelievers.  Simultaneously with salvation, the Holy Spirit imparts new life, baptizes the believer into the body of Christ, and permanently indwells and seals the believer. The Holy Spirit enables, gifts, guides, and empowers the lives of believers for godly living and service (John  6:44, 12:32, 16:7-11, 14:16-17, 26; Titus 3:5; 1 Cor. 12:13, 6:19-20; Eph. 1:13-14; I Cor. 12:1-11; Eph. 5:18-19; Gal.  5:16).

Man & Sin - We believe that man (male/female) was created in the image of God to worship Him and fellowship with Him.  Through sin, man's nature was corrupted and he fell. All men are therefore separated from God, utterly lost, spiritually dead in trespasses and sins, and totally incapable of saving themselves by their own efforts and merits. We also believe that those who repent of sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and made eternally secure in Christ (Gen. 1-3; Rom. 5:12, 3:10-13, 4; Titus 3:5; Eph. 2:8-9; John 5:24; 10:28-29; I Pet. 1:3-5).

Salvation - We believe that salvation is by grace through faith solely in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. We further believe that salvation is made possible solely through the sovereign grace of God and purchased through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. This salvation is received by faith alone, apart from any human merit, works, or ritual. We also believe that salvation results in righteous living, good works and proper social concern (John 14:6, 20:30-31; Acts 4:12; John 3:3; Titus 2:11-13; Eph. 1:7; I Pet. 1:18-19; Heb. 9:22; Eph. 2:8-9, 5:15-16, 2:10; James 1:27).

The Church - We believe that the Church is the spiritual body of which Christ is the Head. We  also believe that the true Church is composed of all persons who have received Christ by faith.  We believe that this body expresses itself in local assemblies whose members have been baptized upon a credible confession of faith and have associated themselves for worship, for instruction, for evangelism, and for service. We believe the ordinances of the local church are believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper. We also believe in the interdependence of local churches and the mutual submission of believers to each other in love (Eph. 2:11-22; Col. 1:18; I Cor. 12:12; Acts 2:41-47; Rom. 6:3-4; I Cor. 11:23-26; Eph. 4:1-3).

The Marriage Union - We believe that marriage is a union instituted by God, and that He has called us to honor that union in Heb. 13:4. We also believe that God intended marriage to be a union for life between one man and one woman, as He originally described in Gen. 2:21-24. We further believe that sexual intimacy is a gift of God, to be enjoyed by both husband and wife within the bonds of marriage. We therefore believe that any form of sexual intimacy outside of God's institution of marriage is a sinful perversion of His gift and must be avoided and/or repented of (Lev. 18; Rom. 1:26-32; Eph. 5:21-33).

Future Things - We believe in the "blessed hope", the imminent and pretribulational return of Jesus Christ, at which time the dead in Christ will be raised and the living saints will be “caught up” and gathered together unto Him.  We further believe that Satan, the prince of this present world system who is in constant warfare with God, will ultimately be confined to torments in the lake of fire (Titus 2:13; Acts 1:11; John 14:1-3; 1 Cor. 15:50-52; I Thes. 4:14-18, 5:9-10; II Thes. 2:1-2; Eph. 2:2; Rev. 12, 20:10).

Eternal Destiny of Men - We believe in the bodily resurrection of believers to eternal life and fellowship with God in heaven, and the bodily resurrection of unbelievers to punishment and eternal separation from God in hell (Job 19:25-27; Luke 16:19-31; Rev. 20:4-6, 12-15; Mat. 25:41, 46; II Thes. 1:9; Rev. 21:1-8).

A body of believers, resting our faith wholly in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we believe in eight distinct teachings and practices:

1. The Bible as the sole authority for God's revelation to mankind

2. A regenerate Church membership – The new birth in Christ

3. The Priesthood of believers – The privilege of the individual believer to directly approach God

4. The observance of the symbolic ordinances of Believer's Baptism by immersion and the Lord's        Supper,
in obedience to the command of Christ

5. A world program of missionary fervor and local evangelism in obedience to the Great                         Commission of our Lord

6. The benefit of majority rule, guaranteeing equal rights to all and special privilege to none.

7. The autonomy of the local church

8. The distinctives of Church and State
